Before we get started

A few things to help plan the work and start a useful conversation.

The difference is more than a label

Level 4 finishing treats the joints, fasteners and accessories. Level 5 adds a skim coat across the entire surface after that preparation. The distinction concerns how the surface is prepared; it is not a promise that every paint and lighting combination will look identical.

Lighting and paint affect what you see

Strong light across a wall and paints with sheen can make differences between board faces and finished joints more noticeable. Full-surface skim coating helps reduce those differences. The Gypsum Association also explains that lighting, coatings and viewing conditions affect the final appearance.

What to discuss for your room

Tell Romildo where daylight and fixtures will fall, which walls or ceilings are involved and what paint finish you are considering. Ask which preparation, finish level, primer and painting work the quote includes. For a critical appearance, agree expectations before work begins.
